NV Louis de Bôme Premier Cru Brut Reserve Champagne
Introducing our family's Premier Cru Brut Champagne! Grapes: 50% Meunier / 25% Chardonnay & 25% Pinot Noir Louis de Bôme was a carriage driver (caléchier or conducteur de calèche in French) in Paris who was born in 1810 and died in 1897. His daughter Marie-Angélique wed with the first generation of winemakers in the Dumangin family, Hippolyte Dumangin. The current winemaker, Gilles Dumangin, explains: "My family have been grape growers for generations tracing back to 1600 with Firmin Dumangin being the first we know to grow wine grapes. We know that the first generation of winemakers was Hippolyte by an undated letter to French prospects explaining why he decided to become a winemaker and sell Champagne. We know the transformation was gradual, but the installation of our first press was in 1884, and the 1st Champagne "Dumangin" was sold shortly after that, around 1886. Since then, five generations have been at the company's helm (me being the 5th). So that makes Louis de Bôme my great/great/great grandfather." Louis de Bôme was born in 1810. Hippolyte Dumangin, married to Marie-Angelique, was the 1st generation of winemaker and champagne seller (winemaking 1884-1909). Achille Dumangin was the second (winemaking 1909-1938) Maurice Dumangin was the third (winemaking 1938-1973) Jacky Dumangin was the fourth (winemaking 1970-2011) Gilles Dumangin is the fifth (winemaking 2000-present) In seeking a collaboration in Champagne, WineConsigners launches this new Champagne from a family of excellent Champagne tradition. We are honored to elevate the name of the former carriage driver to Paris and Kings, Louis de Bôme. Technical Data: Louis de Bôme NV, Premier Cru Champagne Non-Vintage with 45 to 60% reserve wine Vinification: 95% Stainless steel & 5% barrels Malo-Lactic: partial Champagne bottle with DIAM cork (0% TCA = no cork taste) available in 18.7cl & 75cl BRUT (10-gram dosage) Vineyards: Montagne de Reims, Chigny Les Roses (30%), Ludes (25%), Rilly (10%), Taissy (35%)
